This article aims to analyze the novel A morte e o meteoro (2019), by the writer from Cuiaba, Joca Reiners Terron. We take as a starting point for analysis a comparative reflection on the development of the plot of Terron's novel (2019) and the process of invasion and conquest of America, especially Latin America, by European peoples. In the text we seek to explore the violent clash created by the invasion in an environment where violence has perpetrated for centuries. We work with the idea that Terron (2019) uses the conquest process to metaphorically create a contemporary society in which violence prevails without limits. For such an analysis we use studies such as those by Lilia Moritz Schwarcz (2019), Alfredo Bosi (1992 and 2002), Roberto Fernández Retamar (2004), among others
