No presente artigo, analiso relatos de parto de mulheres negras vivendo nos Estados Unidos. Esses relatos descrevem várias formas de racismo durante encontros médicos que aconteceram enquanto elas estavam grávidas ou durante o trabalho de parto e o parto. Na arena global da saúde da mulher, os problemas levantados são vistos como violência obstétrica. Entretanto, racismo obstétrico - enquanto evento e ferramenta de análise - captura melhor as particularidades do cuidado reprodutivo dispensado às mulheres negras durante os períodos pré e pós-natal. O racismo obstétrico é uma ameaça para desfechos de parto positivos. Eu argumento que profissionais da assistência ao parto, incluindo parteiras e doulas, fazem a mediação entre o racismo obstétrico e desfechos reprodutivos estratificados
