Carola Saavedra's The inventory of absent things (2014), in the fabric of subjectivities, brings to the forefront the Brazilian political scene of the dictatorship, the diaspora experiences and the various forms of violence perpetuated by history in relations of domination, which produced through colonialism the subalternization of personal and social life. From the reading of this narrative, the purpose is to re-scale and re-evaluate the category of the character by the standpoint of memory as an imaginary construct that delegitimizes or denatures certain power relations, whose forms have as determinant the evaluative election of a center. For this, through the analytics of the character, I take as its interlocutor the criticism related to the decolonial thought (Fanon, Mignolo, Quijano, Restrepo)
