During the past years Bogotá\nand Medellín have become the stage for a\nseries of governmental innovations in which\nthe reconfiguration of culture and space \nhas had a preeminent role. As laboratories\nof urban reconstruction these cities pose\nimportant questions about emergent\nparadigms of urban policy and planning\nin Latin America. In this article I take the\nfirst steps towards an understanding of\nthese urban transformations stressing the\nimportance of an anthropological critique\nof governmental knowledge and practices
