This article is showing in the relations between two different “ways of learning”, in the case of the artisanal background in Fès, Morocco: on the one hand the school system, on the other hand the traditional “on the job” apprenticeship. After a first part given over to the status of the master craftsmen’s knowledge in that circle, it wonders about the link of these craftsmen concerning the school matter. It appears a “double game” in that kind of thing: while they relegate in the workshops the formely sent to school young people to secondary duties, the master craftsmen choose, more than many other socio-professional groups, the provide their children with schooling. This “double game” brings to light the socially differentiated offices of the different learnings: through an overincreased prestige of their practical experience and a depreciation of the academic learnings in the workshops, the master craftsmen protect at best their power ; in subscribing to the schooling for their children, they simultaneously try to involve them in a process of social mobility through the fund of knowledge acquired at school. But the copying logic of the capitals of production on the one hand, the marginality of the craft industry sector in the society on the other hand – just because the craftsmen have not joined in the school dynamic – hinder this schooling movement. Therefore, are not craftsmen’s children “banned from school” in a way
