Les AA. de cet article tentent de reconstruire la formation d'un collage de rites (association de sequences rituelles dissociees de leurs lieux d'origine) qui s'est developpe en association avec le cycle d'echange ceremoniel tee chez les Enga. Les sources d'information proviennent des traditions historiques Enga, remontant de 250 a 400 annees, periode qui correspond a l'introduction de la patate douce. Cette nouvelle plante cultivee ne semble pas avoir modifie l'organisation economique ni eu d'impact destructurant sur l'ancien ordre social. L'egalitarisme social a perdure mais ce sont les fonctions des acteurs qui se sont modifiees ainsi que la manipulation des rituels et le reseau d'echange ceremoniel
