Ilan Halevi, Ended War, Unending War. By destabilizing Iraq, the United States created a permanent war polo that justifies their presence in the Middle East and the rearmement policy their military-industrial complex will be needing in the face of Japan and Europe. The United States refused to define their war goal regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict because this implies the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people and recognition of the PLO, the only entity that can garantee it thanks to its democratoc organization. They are therefore not currently in a position to impose on Israel the peace it so desesperately needs. Europe will be the first hit by the blacklash due to the implosion of the South-Eastern Mediterranean societies : will it know how to react
