Analizamos dos parroquias en Atlanta, Georgia, que se han convertido en un destino recurrente de inmigrantes latinos. Exploramos las formas en que se adaptan a cambios de la institución y de la comunidad. En un ambiente antiinmigrante que impide una interacción pacífica y amable con los habitantes locales, las iglesias ofrecen uno de los pocos espacios de relación interétnica. El éxito depende del crecimiento, la proporción de migrantes, el tipo de pastoral, los programas y el liderazgo. En el caso estudiado la parroquia que sufre mayor tensión es la que ha impulsado más programas innovadores que promueven la cooperación interétnica e iniciativas por la justicia de los migrantes
