Inter-site relationships in the middle bronze age of Cyprus

Several regional styles of decoration on Middle Cypriot White Painted Pottery can be defined. The relative popularity of motifs is here used to calculate the similarity of sites, and the results of various cluster analyses are compared. Besides a general pattern of highest similarity between nearest neighbours, other links across the island are revealed. These can be associated with copper production, and a general model to explain the distribution of motifs and other aspects of pottery is suggested
