In a total of 762 letters appearing in the Boston Herald-Traveler in October, 1928, in which people stated why they were going to vote either for Herbert Hoover or Alfred E. Smith, not one gave the least evidence of a mind free from prejudice. These prospective voters made up their minds without due respect for facts. They were seduced by prejudice to betray reason.
