Whereas phrase by which we live and perceive is ambiguous, 5 as is by which we (we may mean either or the soul, because we say we know by either one of these) and similarly we are healthy either by health or by some part or whole of our body, and of these knowledge or health is shape, form, definition, or, as it were, activity of that which is capable, in one case of knowing, in 10 other of becoming healthy (for activity of that which acts is exhibited in that which is acted on or affected), and soul is that primarily by which we live, perceive, and think; therefore it is a sort of definition or form, not a matter or subject.1
