This article investigates textual similarities between a passage in Heliodorus' Greek novel the Aethiopica and several passages from the Indian epics the Mahābhārata and the Rāmāyana to propose that the Heliodoran passage bears influence from Indian literature and culture via either oral storytelling or the spread of Indian philosophical ideas.
