This study (16 pdf pages) by the Iranist and historian Louis H. Gray was published in the Journal of the American Oriental Society 28(1907), pp. 331-344. While the focus is on the ancient Iranian/Zoroastrian and Armenian calendars, information is also provided about month names in calendars from Cappadocia in Asia Minor to Sogdia and Chorasmia in the east. This fascinating study demonstrates, among other things, the underlying unity of the entire ancient Iranian culture-world, from Cappadocia in the west, to the eastern border of historical Iran. Based on Arabic, Armenian, Greek, and Persian sources. Book digitized by Google, article extracted and uploaded by Robert Bedrosian
