The new re-publication of the inscriptions of the list of Sabaean eponyms as proposed by Prof. A. Jamme makes no essential alterations in the understanding of the document but it confirms the material, formal and semantic unity of the latter. The connection of the document with the eponymate system is proved by the fact that part of the inscriptions (texts with the formula ywm/r8w) belongs undoubtedly to the eponyms and its context suggests a functional unity of the person mentioned. All the main data of the Sabaean eponymate system are proved: 1) The heredity of the post of the eponym in the three families and tribes: Hazfaram-Ualil, Fadaham-cAd'il and Hadmat-Nazhat, which constitute the all-Sabaean systems of eponyms. 2) A seven-years cycle of eponyms. 3) The genealogical sequence of eponyms for each family (tribe) from father to son. Prof. A. Jamme's objections are due to the fragmentary character of the texts and to the fact that possible lacunas have not been taken into consideration. 4) The system of the eponym sequence-a lawful and successive transition of the rank of eponym from one tribe to another (from Fadaham to Uazfaram and to Hadmat)
