This editorial piece discusses the innovative efforts to increase access to skilled reproductive health care especially in resource-poor settings where physicians are in short supply or physicians are not necessary due to trained mid-level providers performing procedures. It also examines the lack of capacity or failure of developing countries to build and strengthen their health systems and develop a strong well-trained public health workforce
