A szociálgeográfia tegnap és ma. Földrajzi Értesítő, XXXVII(1–4): 237–255. [Google Scholar]). 2 Ez még nevezéktanilag is sajátos formát ölt. Magyar nyelven a “social” szó megfelelője jelenik meg a diszciplína nevében (“társadalomföldrajz”), ezt mégis angol nyelvű tanulmányaikban rendre “human geography”-nak fordítják “vissza” a szerzők, pedig a háború előtti magyarországi “human geography” nevében a “human” szó magyar megfelelője volt használatos (“emberföldrajz”). 3 Az ok, amiért a feminista földrajzra itt kutatási területként és nem társadalom-földrajzi megközelítésként utalok az, hogy ez idáig nem volt képes jelentős hatást gyakorolni a magyarországi geográfia fő áramlatára (lásd részletesebben Timár–Jelenszkyné Fábián 2004 Timár, J. and Jelenszkyné Fábián, I. 2004. Female representation in the higher education of geography in Hungary. Journal of Geography in Higher Education, 28(1): 101–110. [Taylor & Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar]). 4 Bár az etnikai földrajzot a művelői általában önálló diszciplínának tekintik, a “kulturális földrajz” címen először írt egyetemi tankönyvben a szerzők a társadalomföldrajz részeként elemzett kulturális földrajzon belül tárgyalják a Kárpát medence etnikai képét (Tóth–Trócsányi 1997 Tóth, J. and Trócsányi, A. 1997. A magyarság kulturális földrajza, Pécs: Pannónia Tankönyvek. Winners and losers in the transformation of city center retailing in East Central Europe. European Urban and Regional Studies, 8(4): 340–348. [Crossref] , [Google Scholar]). 1 Its main theoretical and methodological tenets include the system of basic social functions, space-relevant grouping, social geographical space, indicator research and the spatial stratification/structure of society (Cséfalvay 1988). 2 This is rather strange even in terms of terminology. The Hungarian equivalent of the word ‘social’ is used in ‘társadalomföldrajz’, the Hungarian name of social geography. Nevertheless, Hungarian authors invariably translate it as ‘human geography’ in their English-language studies, despite the fact that the Hungarian equivalent of the word ‘human’ was used in the Hungarian name (‘emberföldrajz’) of the discipline ‘human geography’ in pre-war Hungary. 3 The reason that I have referred to feminist geography as a research area rather than a social theoretical approach is that, for the time being, it has not been able to achieve a discernible influence on mainstream geography in Hungary (see in detailed in Timár and Jelenszkyné Fábián 2004). 4 Though researchers engaged in it consider ethnic geography to be an independent discipline, the authors of a university textbook on ‘cultural geography’, which is the first of its kind, discuss the ethnic composition of the Carpathian Basin as part of cultural geography, which in turn is analysed as part of social geography (Tóth and Trócsányi 1997). 5 The use of mental maps became especially popular but mainly as a new method that had been tested. 6 Empirical studies have, however, also confirmed the existence of negative attitudes to the new urban scenes of consumption among some social strata (for instance the unemployed and old-age pensioners), i.e. groups that have had little chance to participate in the new consumer society (Nagy 2001
