La semantique du zinacantec tzotzil montre une apparente preoccupation pour l'espace, la forme, la position et la configuration, qui apparait dans tous les aspects de l'usage normal de la langue. Les notions spatiales sont generalement associees aux etats et aux actions. Les radicaux des verbes de surface derivent des racines verbales qui peuvent etre divisees en types formels sur la base de possibilites derivationnelles. Ces types formels, en retour, representent des elements non marques pour l'expression de certains domaines semantiques. L'article examine a la fois les categories formelles et notionnelles qui peuvent etre distinguees parmi la totalite des verbes du lexiques tzotzil
