En Tanzanie, comme dans d'autres milieux urbains d'Afrique, la jeunesse locale a adopte les musiques populaires mondiales, comme le rap, le hip-hop et le reggae, et a cree de nouvelles variations de ces genres. L'acces et l'integration des musiques populaires mondiales ou globales, ainsi que d'autres elements culturels (mode, nourriture, danse et sports), dans la societe tanzanienne se sont accrus au cours des annees 1990. Cet article s'interesse aux relations entre les musiques populaires mondiales et les experiences musicales (creation et adaptation d'une nouvelle identite musicale) des jeunes tanzaniens pendant cette derniere decade
