To be classified as gifted necessitates being identified as gifted. The selection methods will structure the composition of the resultant group of gifted children. If the selection procedures are based upon certain criteria which tend to favor pne individual over another, this will certainly alter the composition of the final group which is identified. Lack of identification, which is also a form of selection, will also tend to alter a society's gifted (identified) groupings
