The Julius Rosenwald Fund has for its purpose the of mankind, as stated in its charter. The establishment of this foundation permitted its founder to carry out a systematic series of activities which have centered chiefly around the improved welfare of the Negro and Negro education. The major activity has been concerned with the construction of rural schoolhouses, although such a development has been instrumental in controlling improvements in other correlated activities. More recently the Fund has assumed added undertakings in health and general community and social welfare which portend to result in a contribution to human well-being as far-reaching as the previous and continued attention to the construction of rural schoolhouses
