O presente artigo aborda a maneira pela qual canais de tv aberta veicularam o episódio da reunião minesterial da OMC (Organização Mundial de Comércio) ocorrida em 1999 e mostra como essa cobertura jornalística foi contestada pela emergência de uma nova mídia, o IMC (Independent Media Center) localizado principalmente na internet
