Author of α Taking of Ilium of 692 lines, the greek poet Tryphiodorus (5th. Century Α.Ώ.) constantly practices imitation (mimesis) of Homer. The themes are identical, but the expression varies in its details and the episodes are often developed - with great scholarship. The influence of Homer's scholiasts can be felt on the scrupulously detailed work of Tryphiodorus
