In 1971, D. Harlfinger had established the list and the stemma of the manuscripts of Aristotle’s Eudemian Ethics. In 1993, Chr. Brockmann did the same in a convincing way, for the Magna Moralia, short of the top part of his stemma, which, as he believes, is trifid. The collation, no longer partial, but complete, of the five major manuscripts, rather suggests a bifid stemma in which KbAL on the one hand and PC on the other constitute the two families of the tradition. The contamination of the manuscripts P and C from A and L or even from Kb makes often makes difficult the question to know weather such or such a lesson from of P and C represents the original lesson of the second family – and consequently the agreement of P and C with A and L represents the archetypal lesson – or whether it is but a byproduct of contamination devoid of any real value
