Visions of Baubô : Classical Texts and Contexts Recognizing Baubô in all the complexity of her documentation implies analyzing the constructions of modern historiography, and bringing to light the polyvalent forms elaborated by the Ancients. The connections indicated by the Greek and Latin texts between Iambè's utterance and Baubô's incongruous gesture are thus explored with no a priori acceptance of the assumptions and intuitions of modern Psychology of Religions. Rather than filling in the lacunae of our comprehension and the silence of our sources with subtle philological constructions, an attempt is made to restore some of the visions of Baubô as they appear in their specific contexts, following the narrative, visual and verbal associations of the classical texts themselves
