The authors present an analysis of the demographic and fertility characteristics along with summary economic traits for five Spanish-origin groups living in the United States. The groups are defined as Hispano Mexican Puerto Rican Cuban and Central and South American. The extent to which Hispanics are merging into the U.S. population as a whole is considered and the primary variables affecting that convergence are identified. Data are from the 1970 U.S. census (ANNOTATION)
