In 2018, in Japan, a 35-year-old employee celebrates his marriage to a digital pop idol, Hatsune Miku, causing a media storm. The reasons that drive so many people here and elsewhere to form privileged relationships with non-humans, even to the point of giving them the semblance of conjugal bliss, are misunderstood. In order to elucidate why certain objects arouse public debate concerning their power of seduction, a detour through anthropology is necessary, which allows us to study all the borderline forms of the amorous relation. In doing so, it is a matter of questioning the idea according to which such bonds are the result of aberration. What does an amorous and/or sexual attachment to a non-human - a robot, a doll, an organ, a car or a tree - reveal about the society that prescribes or proscribes it
