Dans ce texte, au travers du concept de génération, nous explorons ce qui rapproche et distingue différentes institutions de la parenté humaine de celles d’autres espèces animales. Nous montrons que les phénomènes d’émergence culturelle sont si radicaux dans notre espèce qu’ils vont parfois jusqu’à réinventer intégralement ce domaine. C’est la prise en considération de ce phénomène d’émergence culturelle qui nous conduit à substituer au concept de procréation, propre à l’ensemble du règne animal, celui de génération, plus spécifique à notre humanité
