Este articulo presenta el diseno de una investigacion sobre como la policia local de una gran ciudad define y responde a las situaciones en las que interviene. El tema de investigacion tiene un cierto caracter de novedad en Espana. Lo mas peculiar de la metodologia es el intento de analizar las variables que intervienen desde el analisis de las actuaciones policiales. El investigador participa como observador en las situaciones cotidianas del colectivo. Se trata de una investigacion de control social y de profesiones, de organizacion y desorganizacion social
