En las dos últimas décadas, las «Madres Contra la Droga» se han movilizado en España paraplantear ante el Estado y la sociedad reivindicaciones a favor de sus hijos toxicómanos y de losdrogodependientes en general. Utilizando este caso empírico, el artículo rebate la tesis implícitaen parte de la literatura sobre movimientos sociales que propone que los grupos en situación dedesventaja se organizan, ellos mismos, en defensa de sus propios intereses; este escrito defiendeque otros ciudadanos pueden hacerlo por ellos
