A l'automne 2001, la Commission nationale consultative des droits de l'homme (CNCDH) a décidé de ne pas commanditer son sondage annuel sur "les attitudes des Français face au racisme" traditionnellement rendu public le 21 mars de l'année suivante. Deux ans après la parution dans H&M d'un article critiquant l'existence même de ce sondage, Alain Morice revient sur les bonnes et les mauvaises raisons qui, selon lui, ont présidé à son abandon
