Étudier les migrations au féminin sous le prisme de l'engagement porté par les études de genre permet de sortir des représentations stéréotypées accolées aux femmes migrantes d'aujourd'hui. Ni héroïnes, ni victimes, elles sont pleinement actrices de leur migration. Leurs trajectoires migratoires diversifiées recouvrent un mouvement d'autonomisation qui se traduit à la fois, sur le plan politique, par des revendications pour la reconnaissance de leurs droits et, sur le plan personnel, par le développement de leur capacité d'action
