This paper aims at providing an overall view of the «democratif priests» movement in latter XIXth century years France. The manifestations, the ideas, the scale of the movement are considered. Moved by aspirations all at once religious and missionary, social, in the wake of Rerum Novarum, political, along the lines of the «Ralliement», the democratif priests witness the birth of a new clerical figure
