ABSTRACT:We intend in this work to make some considerations about the possibilities of technologies for deaf education by the analysis of records generated by video recording and observing situations in which a deaf professor promotes the construction of knowledge about the written Portuguese language within a group of deaf children, with ages between seven and eleven years old, and in process of appropriation of written Portuguese. The observations were made during lectures given in Brazilian Sign Language, offered at an institution in the interior of the state of São Paulo. This qualitative work is guided by the bilingual perspective in deaf education and the studies in the interlocutory, historical and cultural perspectives. In detaching some of the ways in which the teacher established relationships with a digital material and proposed the course of his class, we sought to highlight the complexity of these relationships and to problematize the fact that in the observed teaching situation, as reported in other studies, the technologies themselves did not instituted new ways of making or thinking only by their presence, in the same sense that the simple presentation of certain linguistic or semiotic resources did not allow automatic learning by deaf students
