Cell phones have created ubiquitous computing environments that allow access to interpretive historical arguments anywhere and anytime. Mobile interpretive efforts and tools have emerged across a spectrum of landscapes and museums spaces. Curatescape, for example, is used by projects such as Cleveland Historical, Explore Baltimore Heritage, and Rhode Tour; other innovative endeavors appear at Histories of the National Mall, Clio, or Gallery One at the Cleveland Museum of Art. The Emory University Center for Digital Scholarship has stepped into this field with its Open Tour Builder, a free and open-source software platform for building geospatial tours. Open Tour Builder allows historians to deploy a Web-based application, available by opening a url on a smartphone's Web browser. It does not produce a native app (one available through app store ecosystems). Developers of the Open Tour Builder highlight two model tours built with this tool: The Battle of Atlanta Tour and the Emory Campus History Tour. This review evaluates Open Tour Builder and these projects based on historical content, public history practice, and digital execution
