Cet article présente une synthèse des récentes contributions sur l'analyse de la relation entre le développement financier et la croissance économique. Les modèles théoriques montrent que le développement financier favorise la croissance à travers la diversification du risque, l'amélioration de l'intermédiation et la réduction de l'asymétrie d'information. Les estimations empiriques valident globalement les résultats obtenus à partir des modèles théoriques et suggèrent que la croissance économique est positivement associée au développement financier
