Pregled tega gradiva nam delno kaže repertoar ter kako so v tem času živela ljudske pesmi in glasba v tem, takrat precej neznanem zahodnem koščku dežele. *** For a number of years, the folk culture of northeastern Istria remained relatively unknown in other parts of Slovenia. For a number of reasons and past events, some of which even prevented any fieldwork research, the region was to a large extent less interesting for researchers. In view of this, the work of the first fieldwork research teams, whose principal object was to study Slovenian material, social, and spiritual cultures of the area, was of considerable importance. The project was organized by the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum in 1948. A year later, an ethnomusicological research team, led by Radoslav Hrovatin, joined the other researchers. Even though the material recorded in the field was unfortunately lost throughout the years, fieldwork notes and reports have been preserved and are now kept at the archives of the Institute of Ethnomusicology of the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and of the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, both in Ljubljana. A study of this material shows the partial repertory and the function of and changes in folk songs and music in this, at that time almost unknown, part of Slovenia
