Članek umešča Krekov literarnozgodovinski opus v razvojni potek slovanske filologije v 19. stoletju in nakaže glavno teoretično izhodišče njegove literarnozgodovinske zamisli. Podrobneje analizira njegove večje prispevke k slovenski literarni zgodovini, predvsem razpravo o t. i. celovškem rokopisu in kratki informativni pregled slovenske književnosti; na tej podlagi opredeljuje njegovo mesto v razvoju slovenske literarne vede. *** Discussed is Krek's work on literary history in relation to the development of Slavic philology in the 19th century. Indicating the principal theoretic starting points that had formed the basis of Krek's further work, the article focuses on Krek's more significant articles on literary history. Examined are his essay on the so-called Klagenfurt Manuscript and his brief overview of Slovenian literature. Based on this, the author attempts to determine Krek's position in and significance for the development of Slovenian literary science
