On Ethnology and Lexicography. The Lexicon of Slovenian Ethnology between Conception and Publication

Priprava dela, kakršno je Slovenski etnološki leksikon (2004), je zahtevna v konceptualnem, organizacijskem in finančnem pogledu. V članku so »od znotraj« predstavljene tiste značilnosti nastajanja leksikona, ki so povezane z zasnovo in deloma organizacijo dela; ob tem je namen deloma kritičen, deloma pojasnjevalen, saj je leksikon kljub vsem pomanjkljivostim izjemno pionirsko delo. Upoštevano je, da ne gre le za etnološki, temveč tudi leksikografski projekt, ki terja neogibno in potrpežljivo sodelovanje etnologov in leksikografov. *** The preparation of a work like the Slovenski etnološki leksikon (Lexicon of Slovenian Ethnology, 2004) is demanding in its conceptual, organizational, and financial aspects. This article gives an "inside" view of the planning and organizational work in creating the lexicon. The aim of this article is both critical and explanatory, because despite all of its shortcomings the lexicon is an exceptional pioneering work. It is recognized that this was not only an ethnological, but also a lexicographical project, which required the indispensable and patient cooperation of ethnologists and lexicographers
