This essay analyzes 'the original position' as a fundamental aspect of Rawls's theory of justice, as well as the concept of the 'veil of ignorance'. The paper is divided into three sections, the first one expounds the original Rawls position, the second contrasts Scanlon's theory of reasonability with the role that reasonability plays in Rawls's theory, and the third section explores the critical comments of the veil of ignorance by Habermas and Benhabib
