The purpose of this paper is to analyze the trip made by José Vasconcelos, Alfonso Taracena and Gabriel Botas to the United States of America in 1937. It is studied, from different perspectives, the details of such trip. On the one hand, we will approach the travel story genre itself, studied through the narration that Taracena presents us and the places he visits; on the other hand, the analysis profile will also discuss the importance that both Vasconcelos and the Botas publishing house had in the Mexican cultural and intellectual life of the first half of the twentieth century. Finally, we will review the significance of the publicity strategy proposed by Taracena (and never authorized by Vasconcelos) in the diffusion processes of the Botas publishing house
