This paper presents an analysis of the Brazilian press constitution process as an institution which promotes interpretation of portuguese language by giving rise to columns written by language specialists.For this purpose, it is added to the researches carried out in the History of Linguistic Ideas, and it indicates that the circulation of senses about the portuguese language in the press participates in knowledge constitution about the language in Brazil
