This article examines the intersections between queer theory and the in/organic as it aims to challenge static perceptions of stone within the context of stone butch identity. Because many previous examinations of stone butchness begin their analyses from stone's presupposed inertia, stone butch futurity is continually recirculated within a matrix of passivity and impermeability. Conversely, the article provides an excavation into the geological aesthetics of stone, especially granite, and how its intrinsic dynamisms can open up possibilities for alternative modes of queering the transversal boundaries of time, space and relationalities within the stone butch. Through my re-interrogation of Leslie Feinberg's Stone Butch Blues , I argue for a dynamic retelling of stone-orientated identities within queer and feminist discourse. Rocking the stone butch geology involves overcoming its linguistic and conceptual inertia. It means to embody what I term a postqueer erotics of stone that is open to its intrinsic multiplicity and difference. My emphasis on stone's transversality as a catalyst also further underscores the transformative potential of stone butchness. As an imbrication of both human and in/organic elements, the stone butch is thus able to transcend her previously inert identity formations that are straitjacketed within the matrilineal confines of her stone mentors
