The objective of this article is to analyze the conflicts between the preservation of the Caboclo-riverine culture and the urban rationality, which influence the behavior of the residents of the community of Zé Açu, located in a land area in the municipality of Parintins-AM.As for methodological procedures: direct and participatory observation, application of forms on lifestyles, habits, beliefs, income and economic activities, as well as interviews with community members.In the research it was verified that the community has undergone a series of socio-cultural changes in the last years, mainly linked to the conflicts between the rationalities of the traditional and the modern, the rural and the urban, and such condition of conflict is the result of the advance Of urban rationality in the daily life of the residents of the community surveyed
