Anthony Shadid won two Pulitzer Prizes and many other accolades in the fifteen years he covered the Middle East for the Washington Post , the Associated Press, and the New York Times . During that time, Shadid bore witness, at great personal risk, to many of the region’s most historic moments. This was the last major interview granted by Shadid, who died February 16, 2012
