The following is condensed from a two hour taped interview during which Maurice Roche discusses his childhood in Clermont-Ferrant and describes his long and varied career as musician, journalist and author. I have kept only the bare bones of that account but have transcribed most of what he has to say about his career as a novelist and about Opera Bouffe. I have not attempted to correct such apparent contradictions as the dates for Bazar and Compact
