The 1977 NCFR Presidential Address calls for more attention to marriage in both educational and psychotherapeutic approaches to the family and marriage fields. Particular importance is attached to examining marital dynamics from a depth psychological approach and object relations theory is seen as having much to offer, the potential there having barely been tapped. Balance among various elements in studying and working with marriage is seen as desirable
