What commercial teaching materials are being used in high school family life classrooms? Which textbooks? Which films? What other teaching aids? How good are these materials? What criteria do teachers use in selecting commercial teaching materials? These were the questions put to a small but select national sample of teachers in the third survey of the Family Life Education Panel. The members of the panel, chosen because of their leadership roles in their state and regional councils on family relations, were asked to select an outstanding teacher or teachers from nearby high schools and to obtain information about the use of commercial teaching materials in a current family life course. Thirty-seven panelists responded with data supplied by the 52 high school teachers that they considered outstanding. Forty-two of the 52 current courses described by the teachers were in departments of home economics or homemaking.
