The article reflects on the possibilities and difficulties encountered by the heterogeneous and multiform wave of social struggles in Latin America during the past decade and its effort to produce a political horizon that focuses on the common reappropriation of wealth, beyond and against the progressive state reconstruction and the facilitation of capitalist accumulation. The article approaches the dynamic of social struggles on the basis of their capacity to construct and display a veto capacity against privatization. It argues that the faculty to produce the common is the fundamental condition for the possibility of the struggle itself as well as for the generalization of forms of the political beyond the limits of the state
