Development of an Instrument Measuring Valence of Ethnicity and Perception of Discrimination

An instrument designed using models of identity awareness for Black Americans and for diverse multicultural populations was tested on at-risk college students. Results indicate that levels of ethnic awareness and perception of discrimination are crucial when counseling students on academic, personal, and career-related matters
