Michel Laub's Diary of the fall was published in 2011 and tells the story of a middle-aged man who recalls past events. The novel is about a three-time dialogue: between the memories of the narrator-character, the father and the grandfather, survivor from Auschwitz. This work attempts to: a) point out some strands of contemporary Brazilian literature, dialoguing with the considerations of Beatriz Resende (2008) and Karl Eric Schøllhammer (2009); b) to problematize the proliferation of the writings of itself at the present time starting from the Doubrovsky's concept autofiction, formulated in 1977; c) analyze the ethical-aesthetic relations present in Michel Laub's Diary of the Fall, regarding the dialogue between the inheritance of the Jewish Genocide and the construction of the fictional subject; d) to discuss the intergenerational conflict present in the work and its repercussions in the construction of narrator-character's identity
